Rick Steves' 7 Days in Paris -- Holiday Edition
December 2011
What better way to celebrate the holiday season than in Paris, the City of Light on a Rick Steves Tour. I’ve always dreamed of spending the holidays in Europe to experience how others celebrate the season.
In 2011, I was lucky enough to join the Rick Steves “7 Days in Paris” Tour hosted by our exuberant tour guide, Rolinka Bloeming and 24 other adventurous "buddies" to experience Joyeux Noel and Bon Annee in Paris. As my friends will tell you, I love to travel and photography is one of my true passions (OK, shopping ranks pretty high on the list as well, sorry Rick) so I've tried to convey our wonderful tour experience through my photos.
Hopefully this website will show you how beautiful Paris is and how magical it becomes during the holiday season. Parisians have traditions similar to our traditions in the US but with some pleasant differences... just exactly what I wanted to experience! Fortunately you don't need to worry if you don't speak French... the Parisians are all very friendly and most can understand our American English and perhaps limited command of their language... but knowing the basic greetings in French will endear you to the Parisians!
I hope you enjoy the pictures and travel dialog as much as I enjoyed creating it... this scrapbook truly reminds me of how much FUN I had on the trip...Rolinka says "souvenirs and pictures are memories for your mind" and if that's true... I have 1,000s of memories!
As a guide to my website, here is a recap of what you will see on each tab.:
- Tour Highlights - Yes, those sites or events that I thought made the trip unique.
- Museums - A different perspective
- Holiday Traditions - What makes Paris special during the Holidays
- This 'n That - Its a surprise, so check it out
Bon voyage! I hope you enjoy your tour of Paris through my eyes... perhaps I will see you in Paris next Christmas!

Note: I haven't focused on the historical aspects of Paris in this scrapbook. I recommend that you get Rick Steves' travel guide called "Paris". Its a wonderful reference book and provides historical dialog on all of the local sites plus some suggested walking tours!
