The SeineThe Seine River meanders 500 miles from Dijon to the English Channel cutting right through Paris. Its great fun to walk along the river and explore "les bouquinistes" (riverside vendors) or take a boat ride to get a very different perspective of the city.
In the summer, the roads along the river are replaced with sand creating the Paris Plage or beaches so that the locals can enjoy sunbathing along the river in the summer. I definitely want to return to see this! The Legend of Lovers Locks According to local legend, if you and your lover attach a lock to a bridge over the Seine and throw the key into the river below, your love will be eternal. No one knows where the practice originated, but now there are several places all over the world where you can find these locks, including the Cinque Terra, Ponte Vecchio and thousands at the Great Wall of China. But don't get caught attaching a lock -- rumor has it that you'll be fined! |
