Navigating the DistrictsThe next day we begin our tour in earnest... exploring the different districts or arrondisements as they are called in France. Our first stop is "kilometer zero" or point zero... the very Heart of Paris
The Historic Heart of Paris Kilometer zero(or point zero) is the very center of Paris located on the Ile de la Cité and hosts two of the world's most significant medieval Gothic churches: the legendary Notre-Dame Cathedral and the exquisite Sainte-Chapelle. A great place to start! |
Left Bank and Latin QuarterAfter touring the two churches, we walk by the famous Shakespeare & Co. bookstore where a few of us couldn't resist buying Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" as a souvenir. The bookstore is a wonderful experience and a great place to stop for a cup of coffee and meeting the locals.
Next we head on to the Latin Quarter where you can see that the stores and restaurants were decked out with holiday decor. Being from Arizona, I especially enjoyed the Latino Bar with its saguaro decorations.... felt right at home. |
